This website is used to document my trip to Mexico as part of USC’s MHIRT Latino Mental Health Research Program in the summer of 2017. The trip will start in Los Angeles, CA with an intense 1 week training at the USC campus. Then we will travel to Mexico City and Puebla in Mexico for the remaining 10 weeks to participate in research with El Instituto Nacional de Psiquiatria and la Facultad de Medicina en la Benemerita Universidad Autonoma de Puebla.
I am a recent graduate with a B.A. in Psychology and Social Behavior and a B.A. in Criminology, Law & Society. I will be starting my Ph.D. studies in the fall of 2017, my research interests are in domestic violence (DV) and its effects on those exposed to DV. I’m also interested in alternatives to punitive measures and incarceration, such as restorative justice and rehabilitation measures. Finally, I’m interested in the impact of ethnic, racial, and other biases, prejudices, and discrimination that minorities face in the justice system.
